Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust

About: WAHT provides hospital-based services from three main sites - the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre, and Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester. Each year WAHT carries out over 95,000 planned and emergency operations, sees more than 130,000 A&E attendances and around 500,000 outpatient appointments, including appointments with consultants or specialist nurses, diagnostic tests such as X-rays and minor surgical procedures. WAHT employs more than 5,500 people and has an annual turnover of more than £320 million.

About: Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust (WHCT)  provides community health services (including community hospitals, district nursing, therapies, children's services and minor injuries units) and mental health services (including learning disabilities, inpatient and community mental health services, substance misuse, early intervention and recovery) across the county of Worcestershire. Clinical involvement

Worcestershire Clinical Senate

About: The Clinical Senate is made up of county GPs, and clinicians from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Worcestershire Health and Care Trust and social services. They provide a forum where collective knowledge on clinical issues can be shared and provided to the Boards of NHS organisations within Worcestershire. The Clinical Senate ensures clinical participation in policy setting and clinical leadership for strategic decisions about the configuration of health services. The Clinical Senate is responsible for making the clinical recommendations on the Joint Services Review (JSR) to the JSR Steering Group.

Clinical Commissioning Groups x3

About: Worcestershire's three Clinical Commissioning Groups (Redditch and Bromsgrove, South Worcestershire and Wyre Forest) will share the responsibility with NHS Worcestershire for commissioning hospital and community health services for the Worcestershire population. By April 2013, they will be a statutory organisation in their own right.
